The last few years have given us all time for self-reflection, making it even more clear what we need to focus on. For the months of February and March 2022, here at FIS Recruitment, some of the most prominent focuses are DEI (Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion) and the overall candidate experience.
You might have even noticed a transformation in our brand image and web design to accommodate these focuses. Let's take a closer look at both of these HR concepts.
DEI—or Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion—is a term used to describe programs and policies that encourage the representation and inclusion of a diverse group of people. Areas that fall under these policies include:
It is very important to us as a recruitment agency in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida all places known for its great diversity in its people, to be able to represent everyone equally.
With DEI in mind, the upcoming month of March is quite an important month.
Why? Because it's National Women's History month! What a great time to bring a representation of outstanding women of history to the workplace and celebrate them.
Over the last century, leaps and strides have been made for women's rights in our country and around the world—and progress is still being made today. The workplace is one area where women are making history. It's a great time to learn about women making strides in your field. Take Kathleen Hogan, for instance.
In 2016, Kathleen Hogan, the Microsoft Human Resources Executive VP, worked to reduce the gender pay gap at the company. Women's salaries are now 99.8 cents for every $1 earned by men. Hogan almost completely closed a gap that has existed since women entered the workforce. Amazing!
One way to get the ball rolling is to ask your female employees how they would like to celebrate this month. Keep in mind that different women may have different views of Women's History Month — for instance, white women were able to vote in the US long before Women of Color, and there are still many women fighting for certain rights even today.
Something as easy as showcasing your company's remarkable women on social media is a great way to start. Try sharing interviews or inspiring quotes from the women in your place of work!
